Most recently we sponsored the Saving the Elephants 11th Annual Run, which took place on November 9th, 2024, in Central Park, NYC. Together, we ran to raise awareness and support for elephant conservation.

Saving the Elephants is an annual run and is a charitable experience for the entire family! Benefitting the Zambezi Elephant Fund, you can run, jog or walk your way around beautiful Central Park or virtually in your own neighborhood, while helping protect this majestic species. You can even involve your friends and family by forming a team or raising additional funds to support wildlife.

Join us next year in November 2025!

News - Past & Recent

The piece below was written specifically as part of a CD project for my very first fundraiser for CROW. I felt it was important to try to write something in Zulu since the funds were going to help animals in South Africa. I recorded it again a few years ago at The Power Station/Berklee NYC. My Berklee colleagues Casey Scheuerell and Joe Galeota played percussion. I was fortunate enough to meet Paul Simon's bassist, Bakithi Kumalo, who helped me find 4 women singers from the Lion King. A wonderful NY jazz singer, Nicole Zuraitis, and I joined them on vocals. As you can see it was a blast. No-one could stop dancing!

Ngizohamba

An homage to the animals in Zulu.

Lyrics:

Ngizohamba ngezinyawo ukuyobingelela

Izindlovu, amadube, amabhubesi, nezimpala

Woza, Woza uhambe nami

Woza, Woza uhambe nami

(Translation) I Will Go

I will go by foot to greet

The elephants, zebras, lions, impala.
